Pricing
Kicks pricing is not listed here for a reason. Kicks believes that prospective students should come in and see in person what they are getting into. There are such big differences between schools that shopping around by phone or Internet for the lowest cost school can lead to disastrous results. Although cost is an unavoidable consideration it should be low on the list of factors considered before choosing which school to commit to.
On the other hand, choosing an expensive school because you think they must be the best if they are charging more than everyone else can also lead to a bad decision. You could get stuck with a long-term, unbreakable, and expensive contract to a school you really don't like or want to be at long-term.
Deciding on one martial arts school over another should be a personal decision based on how the school feels and what you think of the instructors, facility, curriculum, and other students in the school.
Beware of schools that don't let you onto the karate floor before signing on the dotted line or ones that give you a 10 minute free class without letting you see real classes in action. We encourage all prospective students to come in and try free, no strings attached trial classes to see if they are a good fit for the school. These trial classes are the real classes with all the other regular students. You can see first-hand what goes on, meet all the other students, ask them questions and get a TRUE feeling for what kind of school Kicks really is.
Programs
Our martial arts programs are split by age into three groups for numerous reasons. If you're bringing you kids here, then you can be assured that they will be training with others their own age. As an adult student, you can be comfortable knowing that others in your class have the same goals you do. Our programs have a great mix of men and women too.
Dragons
Kicks’ dragons program is for youth ages 4 through 6. The real emphasis of this program is to get the kids used to working in a controlled environment on specific tasks. The drills are designed to teach such things as control, balance, memory, discipline, fitness, and focus.
At this level, basic Tae Kwon Do punching and kicking techniques are taught. Self-defense techniques are incorporated into the class and the kids are taught the difference between stranger danger and normal playground skirmishes. We stress the different situations where they can and can’t use what they learn in class.
Youth
For the older youth, ages 7 to 12, Tae Kwon Do and self-defense is the base of the program. Much of the emphasis is also teaching the kids to stay on task and set goals. Once the youth students start to advance we begin to bring in other arts such as and Okinawan Kobudo and Ju Jitsu. Standard self-defense training continues.
Adult
Kicks Martial Arts adult program teaches numerous styles of martial arts that are combined into one unique program that gives students a well-rounded martial arts experience. Our base art is Tae Kwon Do, with Philippine Eskrima and Okinawan Kobudo mixed in. For the adult students, 13 and up, there are numerous other techniques such a pressure and nerve point area control, joint locks, and ground fighting techniques that are also incorporated. Special classes and guest instructors round out the training and provide many opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills.
The aim of the adult program is to combine traditional and historically correct martial arts with principals of self-defense that meet the needs of our increasingly dangerous society.
